| The inhabitants of East Berlin never got in a much better situation after the wall came down.I guess that dousing West Berlin in abundance was only a pretext for the Americans to fling their capitalist propaganda at the Soviets, because East Berliners got the brunt of the deal after the show was over. |

I logged in just to post that. Glad to see a few other people are on the ball.Moore's Law states that the number of transistors on an integrated circuit will double every 18 months, as bigmahlam posted above. It says nothing about technology in general, and definitely doesn't say anything remotely similar to "technology will double every 18 months"!Seriously, someone takes the time to write an article and they don't have 30 seconds to look that up?

“The major problem isn't the school nor the government, it's the ***** parents. Well, I guess you could blame the government because it's taking away parent's rights with how they deal with their children, but a lot of the problem is the parents not pushing their kids to do better. Since I've graduated, basically every girl I've met has been a teacher, and you hear the same story over and over. They're trying, but the kids just won't do the work and the parents complain when their kids fail. I have one friend, very smart, but a bit of a hard ass, that tries to do some really cool things with her kids, ***** I wish I had the chance to do. Well, the problem is that she grades them hard, if they don't do work, she's not going to just let them pass. She had a high failure rate, and almost got suspended for it. When she told me about it, I told her she could be less of a hard ass, but then she showed me the grades. Half the kids didn't even bother handing in about 1/3 of the reports. That's where the parents should come in, but of course they don't.The problem really is what the acceleration of our society has done to the family core. We really need a movement, not to necessarily strengthen 'family values', but one where parents just get the time to spend a little more time with their kids and take a more active approach in their education. Hell, if you're kid is failing out of school... maybe the parents need a swift kick in the ass as well.

No one likes the government telling them what to eat. But at the very least, they can stop subsidizing two huge players in the fattening of America, corn and beef. Ever wonder why a pound of beef is cheaper than a pound of spinach, when beef takes 10x the energy to produce? Thank the cattle industry lobby! Wonder why cheap corn syrup has replaced sugar (and lowered the price) of almost every processed food you can buy?Farmers say they need the subsidies to survive? I say preserving the lifestyle of the corn farmer is not worth making the rest of the nation get diabetes..
With the exception of Ron Paul they all deserve to be thrown out. That's why the party is divided and being taken over.!

There isn't a high demand in western countries for "rabies, hookworm and river blindness," therefore no incentive for companies based in that region to create treatments/drugs to combat them.?

Nothing wrong with this. The reason why you lift the dog up is that in order to get the dog to be submissive, he needs to be put into a prone position with it's neck exposed. If you just try to force the dog to roll over you could end up breaking one of the dogs legs. Have you ever tried to roll an extremely strong puppy over? Very tough to do without exerting force that feels as though it will harm the animal. He's not slamming the dog down like a wrestler.
