First, the guy is an advocate; Yes he was taping ahead of time in the hopes of capturing this type of abuse and threats. So what? Being an agent of information by provoking the situation only prouves that people with unchecked power can be incredible DOUCHES.What is troubling is the despite being within the law but BECAUSE he tried to defend his position, the cop became defensive and no longer acted as the agent of the law, but needed to show how big his nightstick was, literally inventing reasons that the guy was being suspicious. His flawed reasoning is that if the photographer had said "I'm an artist, and not taking pics of infrastructure" the cop would have walked away... Yeah in your dreams. The cop is clearly lying about his own motives.The cop has so little to go on that he then tries to scare him by 'McCarthy chokehold', of all horrors; to be put 'on the list'; "Everytime you'll get checked, questioned, delayed" (You'll see you S.O.B), THAT is the crime. Unlawful intimidation from third echelon law enforcement of a lasting 'secret record'.Let's all stop being scared by everything, and let's be honest; Any scumbag wanting recon on any public place can gear up with a pinhole camera and can gather ALL the stuff needed, no big problem. As for privacy; Selling pictures with people in them without a release is almost impossible. Candid shots on the streets might be nice, but useless commercially. Stop making photographers the bad guys...

“They vote on medicare, even though they have a special coverage. They vote on public school regulation, even though they send their kids to private schools. What really annoys me about this sort of seizures is they take away your computer and cell phone and all other electronics for pretty much their useful lifetime, because regardless of innocence you are looking at 18 months minimum. For a company this could shut you down permanently, and for an individual it is beyond inconvenient. It also makes it so that seizures can be used to legally harass people who have different political ideas. I am not saying that all seizures are unjustified I just think that they should come up with a system where they can seize it, copy the internal state of the machines, then return them within a very limited time, especially if no charges are pressed. It should take maybe a week tops..
